DC comics, in wake of the effects of Flashpoint, have decided to take a trip back in time and deliver some untold stories by the iconic characters in it's brand. So I figured, why don't I take a trip back in time as well, and review them.
Wonder Woman is set in the 1970's. Diana has renounced her Amazon heritage, as well as her powers. But there is a problem at her place of birth. Paradise Island sinks to the bottom of the ocean. Investigating, Diana comes upon an alien ship. Entering, she finds a sentient being called The Most High. Stating that Diana has "sinned by making yourself less than you are". Tasking Diana with 3 unknown tasks, later shown to be a fight with Joan of Arc, Goliath and an unknown test. Following this story is an actual classic story from the 1970's, deemed a bonus story. Diana investigates an artifact called "the fist of Flame", following an attack by 2 people who seem to be a part of a cult surrounding the artifact. Eventually Diana and I Chang find the artifact, with the help of Catwoman.
When I first heard about these Retroactive comics by DC, I was expecting a modern day story with classic art. I was wrong with my suspicions. The art style is quite fitting with the style from the 70's, which is actually quite beautiful. The story is also an excellent throwback to the classic style. The conversation is quite sterotypical and cheesy, but it works. It fits in perfectly with the style from the 70's and the story itself is something fun to read. I wouldn't mind reading more Retroactive styles. I am sure DC will think about it depending on the success of this small franchise.

I like the appeal of the older style of the comics it doesn't bother me that its cheesy or whatever.
I like the current stuff better. Although I admit the older art style is appealing in it's own way.
